Hisyam Ikhtiar Mulia is a person with multiple disabilities who works in disability advocacy and Human Rights-based research. Hisyam began his journey in disability activism in 2019 through his involvement in the law-making process for several regulations, such as Government Regulation regarding Habilitation and Rehabilitation Standards for Persons with Disabilities, Regulations regarding Reasonable Accommodation for Persons with Disabilities in Access to Justice, and several other regional regulations. Hisyam was also involved in the establishment of CRPD Alternative Reports 2020.

Alongside the advocacy activities, Hisyam was actively involved in the research establishment during his work time in an NGO he previously worked for. His former research was mostly Human Rights-based on various themes, including psychosocial disability. During his work time, he established eight research, three of which are on psychosocial disability topics.

Before joining REMISI in 2023, Hisyam also had various experiences as a program officer for four and half years for a legal aid institution based in Jakarta. During that time, he worked on various Human Rights programs, including the establishment of human rights introduction short course for college students. At that time, he began implementing an inclusive approach to the program. Due to his work role, Hisyam has been involved in program development and implementation.

Born in Jakarta on 18th August, Hisyam was able to perform both work roles despite the barriers he had to face as a person with disabilities due to his educational background. As a Bachelor of Humanity majoring in Philosophy, his familiarity with socio-political issues and his critical thinking mindset forged during his college year also contribute to his performance in the advocacy and research field. In addition to that, his eagerness to learn new things also helps him in his advocacy work.
