This is our team details
Maya has been actively involved in mental health organizations and communities in Indonesia since 2018. Maya is a woman with a psychosocial disability who has been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. Starting from the chronic condition of Diabetes Mellitus that she experienced since chilhood, Maya learned to understand how the effects of chronic diabetes have on a person’s mental condition.
With educational background in Bachelor of Psychology, the world of mental health and psychology is familiar to her. Maya has a deep understanding of the issues of suicide and mental health; this is one of Maya’s encouragements to be active in the collective movement to build her own community called Kata Djiwa in 2017. Maya often establishes peer support groups to support and strengthen survivors of persons with psychosocial disabilities. In 2018 Maya also served as a Human Capital at a Social Enterprise called Save Yourselves and an internship at The National Commission on Violence Against Women.
Years of experience in building the community, running peer support groups, and raising awareness of psychosocial disability issues became the background for Maya’s to join Remisi as a team.
